Richard IL Kim (Yong IL Kim) dearest husband, father to 3 children and 2 grandchildren passed away on Oct 12, 2021. He was a hard worker throughout his life and his commitments were unbreakable.
He loved to walk and enjoy nature. He lived a full and beautiful life and a journey well lived.
As a child he lived through the Korean War, then he served his country of South Korea in the Army as a surveyor to support artillery. In the Army he learned to speak English and built a taste for baked beans.
He married Juliana Jun (Jun Ja) and had 2 daughters and a son. The family migrated to the US to build better opportunities for his 3 kids and worked tirelessly long hours in Baltimore City, until retirement in April 2015. He loved to listen to classic pop Korean songs and also sang Celine Dion song, My Heart Will Go On. He loved reading American books about history and American culture. He was proud to be an American citizen and Korean.
Richard was a fruit salesman, and a taxi driver, in Korea. In America he became a welder, saw mill operator, janitor, construction worker, and a small business owner as a grocer in Baltimore City. He came to America with a high school degree and sent his 3 children to college in the USA.
Richard was a devoted and loving father to his 3 children. He was strong and he always protected his family and always put his family before himself. He worked hard to make sure all his children were healthy and lived in beautiful homes. He enjoyed fishing and crabbing with his family during the summers. He enjoyed sharing meals from the various cultures found in America, cooked by his eldest daughter. He loved spending time playing with his grandchildren at the playground and at home. He loved hearing stories and laughing about his daughters, son and grandkid's lives.

The family will receive friends for a Prayer Service at the family owned Peaceful Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Center, P.A., 2325 York Road, Timonium, MD 21093 on Thursday, October 14 beginning at 8 PM. A Graveside Service will be held at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens on Friday, October 15 beginning at 11 AM.
