Bob showed unfailing strength of character and grace in the seven weeks from diagnosis to the end of his life on earth, notably uncomplaining, thinking more about others than himself. He hosted visitors warmly, and was thankful to his caregivers. While hopeful for a cure, he also took time to ensure the maintenance of his and Karen's home, set his affairs in order, and teach Karen how to take care of the things that had been his responsibility so she would be well positioned for the future.

His faith in God was unshakeable. Throughout his teaching career and music ministry he shared the Gospel. Bob regularly prayed for the area of the city where he worked. In his valet work, his witness was to co-workers and street people – resulting in some attending services. A favorite quote from one such individual: “I want to try Bob’s God.”

Bob had a huge capacity for generosity, love and forgiveness. His generosity of time, talent, and gifts caused some to take advantage, but he never let their actions change him. In the pandemic he signed up to bring nourishing meals weekly to the hungry of SW Baltimore. When asked what one word they think of when it comes to Bob, those who know him say heart.

He was very humble about his musical gifts and seemed not to know how positively he affected the lives of others. Yet the many travelling from five states to visit him at home or hospital, and the outpouring of support from numerous other points speak to what he meant to many across his life.

Bob was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He also had a sense of humor that included The Three Stooges: He held fan club membership, subscribed to their journal, attended their convention, and made pilgrimage to the Stoogeum. He was a prolific punster.

He had a strong and energetic work ethic. He gave so much of himself to teaching and the broader work that comes with it in the Lutheran system. In summers he was musician, then also superintendent of Vacation Bible School more than twenty-five years. He also drove a limo or a cab or worked for Amazon. He taught piano to children. He threw himself fully into his retirement job as a valet parker. He loved his co-workers and the hotel guests enjoyed him.

Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years, Karen Robertson-Keck, daughter Emily Reinhardt (Harry), granddaughter Ava Hall, brothers-in-law Elliott Robertson and Lance Robertson (Alyson), and Christopher Hall whom he loved like a son.

The family will receive friends at Peaceful Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Center, P.A., 2325 York Road, Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Sunday, August, 30 from 2-5 PM and on Monday, August 31 from 10-11 AM with a Funeral Service officiated by Rev. Eric Goodwin to begin at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
