Bowman, Robert A. (Hot Dog Bob) – Passed away at peace with the world on April 28 th , 2023. Born April 3 rd , 1942, in Conshohocken, PA. to Robert A. Bowman, Sr. and Catherine (Freas) Bowman. He had attended St. Matthew's parochial and St. Matthew's high school in Conshohocken, PA. where he lettered in football and basketball for 4 years. He also attended Villanova University. He played semi-pro football for the Rockne Athletic Club and Irontown Athletic Club for 7 years.
Bob was drafted and served in Vietnam as a recon team member with 87 th engineer recon company and 199 th light infantry brigade from 1966 to 1967. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1963 in Sea Isle City and various memberships in Vietnam Veteran organizations.
Bob had worked for 19 years for the City of Sea Isle City as Construction Official, Building Inspector, Zoning Officer and Code Enforcement Official. He ran and operated the Commodore Club on the boardwalk for 8 years. He also owned and operated BoJo's Ale House in Millville for 6 years.
Preceded in death by his parents Robert and Catherine and his loving wife Lynn of 30 years. He is survived by h is beloved son, Robert III, spouse Cara and 3 grandchildren Cole, Chase, and Campbell; h is loving sister Judy and spouse David Minnick; his stepchildren, Trisha, Nicole, Tia and spouse Kevin Yarborough and grandchildren Davilynn, Tyler, Andrew, Ava and Reese.
The family will receive friends at Peaceful Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Center, P.A., 2325 York Road, Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Monday, May 8 th from 4:00 – 7:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 19 th , 2023, at 11:00 am at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 4308 Landis Avenue, Sea Isle City with visitation at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 am. A celebration of life will immediately follow at KIX Bar and Restaurant on 63 rd Street.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the VFW Post 1963, 301 JFK Blvd, Sea Isle City, NJ 08243.
