Obituary

Robert Jump died peacefully on May 7th at his daughter's home in Timonium MD, he was 91 yrs. old.  Bob was pre-deceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Lou Jump.  He is survived by his daughter Kim O'Conor (nee Jump), son-in-law Robb O'Conor, son John Jump, daughter-in-law Stacey Jump (nee Sittler), daughter Mary Louise Polhamus (nee Jump), son-in-law James Polhamus, daughter Virginia Jump, and his 10 grandchildren Mallory Costello (nee O'Conor), grandson-in-law Brian Costello, Daniel O'Conor, Rebecca Jump, William Jump, Emily Behan, James Miles Polhamus, Lillian Behan, John "Jack" Jump, Liam Polhamus, and Owen Polhamus.

Bob was born in Baltimore on November 21,1932 to Bob, Sr. and Edith Jump. He graduated from Baltimore City College High School in 1951. In 1955 Bob graduated from Loyola College in Maryland being the first in his family to graduate from college. After serving his country in the U.S. Army, he started his 31-year career at Bethlehem Steel as an Industrial Engineer.  On New Year's Eve in 1958 he met the sparkle of his heart when Mary Lou Brown offered him a ham sandwich at a New Year's Eve dance. Their 62-year marriage carried through in Parkville, Fallston, Forest Hill and ultimately Timonium.

Bob went on to receive his MBA from Loyola College in 1975 and applied his newfound knowledge as a sole proprietor and with Mary Lou, co-owned and operated Eastern Country Western Wear.  During his 35 years of retirement, Bob was very giving as a member of the Knights of Columbus, a Meals on Wheels driver, transporting fellow parishioners of St. Mark in Fallston to various appointments and providing companionship to those in need. As Bob and Mary Lou's family grew, his grandchildren started calling him Bobby, as Mary Lou often lovingly called him.  There is no better way to continue the expression of love, admiration, and warmth then by calling him Bobby.

Always with a song in his heart, Bobby loved being outside and being busy golfing, crabbing, fishing, gardening, and skiing with his family. Bobby was the consummate family man leading his family in his catholic faith, taking them on vacations to exotic and out of the way places such as Madison, Maryland and Indiana Dude ranches, sharing his love of fishing and crabbing the bay, and always ready to play any and all games (even if they ended up being the "dumbest game ever"). Bobby's love for his family is only shadowed by his family's love for him.

Family will receive friends for a visitation at St. Joseph Parish, 100 Church Lane, Cockeysville, MD 21030, on Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 10 AM to 11 AM, with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11 AM. Interment to follow at Highview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bobby's name to Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland, mealsonwheelsmd.org.
