Ronald S.
Landsman
May 26, 1944 — Jul 18, 2025
Ronald Sheldon Landsman – affectionately known to many as "Captain Ron" – of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025, at the age of 81. He is survived by his wife, Debra Landsman; his daughter, Jennifer Erdman and her husband, Robert; his son, Matthew Landsman and his wife, Amy; as well as five grandchildren, Declan, Ryker, Abry, Landry and Benton, and granddog Paisely, who meant the world to him.
Captain Ron was a graduate of Loyola College (B.S., 1966), where he played varsity baseball, and of the University of Baltimore School of Law (J.D., 1969). Following law school, he served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Albert L. Sklar, Associate Judge, Supreme Bench of Baltimore City (now known as the Circuit Court for Baltimore City). Captain Ron was the founding partner of The Law Office of Landsman & Ronald where he built a distinguished legal career spanning more than five decades. He earned widespread respect from both clients and colleagues, not only for his legal acumen, but for the deep relationships he cultivated throughout his career. He was known for his warmth, integrity, and exceptional communication skills, qualities that made him both a trusted advisor and a beloved friend. Even in his final days, he remained deeply engaged, sharing stories from his remarkable journey as a trial attorney, a clear reflection of the enduring passion he held for the law.
Above all, Captain Ron valued his family. He relished spending quality time with them, especially when it meant supporting his grandchildren, whether at their sporting events, school activities, or theater productions. He also loved spending time on the water, which earned him the nickname "Captain Ron." He was often found fishing, boating, or simply unwinding in Ocean City, Maryland, where he spent almost 40 years on his condominium association's board. In close competition for his love for the water was his passion for cars. He found excitement in every aspect of the car buying process and was just as enthusiastic about someone else's car purchase as he was about his own.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. As a tribute to Captain Ron, the family requests that you share any photographs or memories you have of him to his Photo Album. Alternatively, you may email them directly to the family. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.peacefulalternatives.com
