Ronald Kenneth
Miller
d. Mar 1, 2025
Ronald (Ron) Kenneth Miller, a devoted family man and faithful servant, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2025, at the age of 91.
Born on April 12, 1933, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, Ron dedicated his life to hard work, family, and faith. He honorably served his country as a Private First Class in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. After completing his military service, he embarked on a long and successful career with Amoco Oil Company, where he worked diligently from 1957 until his retirement in 1992. His career took him to various locations, beginning in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, before moving to Nashville, Tennessee; Stone Mountain, Georgia; Bel Air, Maryland; Homewood, Illinois; and finally, Coral Springs, Florida, where he spent his last years before retiring.
Ron had a deep love for the outdoors, particularly camping, which played a significant role in his life. It was on a camping trip that he met the love of his life, Oleta (Lee) Miller, and together they shared 67 ½ wonderful years of marriage. Camping remained a cherished tradition for them, as they continued to explore the beauty of nature on family vacations, creating lasting memories with their loved ones.
In addition to his professional career, Ron was committed to serving his community. While living in Nashville, Tennessee, he volunteered as a firefighter, demonstrating his dedication to helping others and his unwavering sense of duty.
Beyond his career and community service, Ron found great joy in hobbies that showcased his creativity and craftsmanship. He was a skilled woodworker who spent countless hours perfecting his craft. While he loved fishing, he often joked that his greatest talent was letting the fish get away. His passion for bringing joy to others extended to clowning, a unique gift that brightened the lives of those around him.
A man of deep faith, Ron was a devoted member of Hiawassee United Methodist Church in Hiawassee, Georgia, where he and Oleta built their retirement home in 1992. They remained active members of HUMC for over 25 years until their recent move to Hunt Valley, Maryland. Over the years, he served in the Men's Ministry, held various leadership roles, participated in fundraisers, and found great fulfillment in singing in the church choir.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Oleta M. Miller; his daughters, Karen Lynn Miller-Pena (Juan) and Kimberly Ann Popowski (Mike); and his cherished grandchildren, Nathaniel Tyler Popowski and Hannah Gabrielle Popowski.
A gathering of friends will be held on March 7, 2025, from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM at Peaceful Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Center, P.A., located at 2325 York Road, Timonium, MD 21030.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to K9s for Veterans or a charity of your choice, in honor of Ronald's compassionate spirit and lifelong service to others.
Ronald's legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
