Margaret "Rosalie" Gugerty, age 89, of Parkville, Maryland, passed away Friday, December 10, 2021. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Gugerty, Sr. Rosalie was the devoted mother of the late Kathleen May, her son-in-law Robert May, and the late Robert Pedone. She was the caring step-mother of Thomas Gugerty, Jr., Catherine R. "Missy" Gugerty SSND, John Gugerty, and Carolyn Hrdlick.
Rosalie was the proud grandmother of Joseph Pedone, Jayme Pedone, Jessica Pedone, T.J. Gugerty, Kate Stoner, Tara Hrdlick, Neil Hrdlick, and Aidan Hrdlick. Rosalie was a great-grandmother to Case and Charlotte Stoner and Lyla and Talia Pedone.
She was the dear sister of the late Maria Berger and late Joseph Messina. She was the sister-in-law of Mary Messina and Leo Berger. She was the aunt of Teresa Logue and Vince Messina.
Rosalie was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She graduated from The Catholic High School of Baltimore. Rosalie worked at GBMC and enjoyed all of the medical terms she learned while working with the on-call doctors.
Rosalie was a member of the Suburbanites. She loved living in Timonium with Tom in their lovely home with well-manicured lawns, a vegetable garden, and blooming flowers. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends in their beautiful backyard.
Rosalie loved crafts of all kinds. She often made needlepoint gifts for her grandchildren and creative ornaments for family milestone events, including weddings, birthdays, and other special occasions.
Rosalie was a devout Catholic. She regularly said the rosary, and slept with The San Damiano Cross from The Catholic Community of St. Francis Xavier in Hunt Valley and a statue of Jesus. She was an active member of The Church of The Nativity in Timonium. Rosalie and Tom would invite Carolyn and her family to Lenten and Advent programs at Nativity.
Rosalie always enjoyed time with her grandchildren whether in Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, or Maryland. Rosalie and Tom enjoyed travelling to Germany to spend time with Kathleen and Bob May. She was ahead of her time with her computer prowess compared to her peers and enjoyed texting with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing games, learning to play the piano, and speaking Spanish with her granddaughter, Kate. She loved TCBY Yogurt and her chocolates, especially her Hershey miniatures! She often baked loaves of bread to share with family and friends at the holidays.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial officiated by Father Larry Johnson at the Oak Crest Chapel, 8820 Walther Boulevard, Parkville, Maryland 21234 on Thursday, January 6, 2022 beginning at 11:00 a.m. Prior to mass, guests can gather in the chapel beginning at 10:15 a.m. Per the request of the Oak Crest staff, masks will be required while inside their building. Inurnment will follow at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery beginning at 1:00 p.m., located at 11501 Garrison Forest Road in Owings Mills, Maryland 21117.
