Obituary

Russell "Jerry" Gerald Scoggins, 75 of Baltimore, passed away on July 23, 2025.

Jerry was a loving husband to his wife of 53 years, Deborah, and a wonderful father to Courtnee Cirri (Dom). He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Matthew Scoggins, a gifted musician who proudly carried on his father's musical legacy. Nothing made Jerry more proud than being "Gampee" to his three grandchildren, Rylee, Ryan, and Raelyn, who brought him endless joy. He was also a wonderful pet dad to Phin and Graycee and an animal lover whose kindness extended to all creatures great and small! True to his gentle heart, he once brought home an orphaned baby raccoon to surprise Debbie.

His talent for singing, deep love and knowledge of music, and skill on the guitar were gifts he shared generously with his family, especially when strumming his cherished Gibson Les Paul. Jerry had a lifelong love for classic bands such as The Beatles, Steely Dan, Buffalo Springfield, and Chicago. That passion inspired a similar love of music in his son, grandson, and nephew, a constant source of happiness throughout his life.

Jerry also enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, gardening, watching old western movies, especially "Hopalong Cassidy," and sharing jam sessions with friends and family, savoring the simple pleasures of life to the fullest.

He is also survived by his brother, Terry Scoggins (Linda); his sisters-in-law, Darlene (Vernon) Himebauch and Dawn Preuss; nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Roberta Preuss, and is reunited in peace with his late father-in-law, Kurt H. Preuss, Jr.
