Obituary

Sherrill Dean Conner, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024 at the age of 89.  Sherrill was born June 9, 1935 in Moundsville, West Virginia to Jay Russell and Sadie Clarice Conner.  After serving two terms of service in the U.S. Army as a Radio Teletype Operator, Sherrill received an Associate's Degree at the Community College of Baltimore County.  His career in computer technology began at the Bendix Corporation and then continued at the Social Security Administration (SSA).  At SSA, Sherrill developed the initial computer systems necessary to achieve Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program implementation.  His career in the Federal Government spanned 56 years; however, he also enjoyed gardening, learning Spanish, reading, and vacationing at the beach or back home in West Virginia.  Sherrill also had a wonderful sense of humor and a sharp wit.  He enjoyed a good joke and his smile was contagious.  For all of these reasons and more, he will be forever cherished in our hearts.

Sherrill was preceded in death by his son, James Conner and sister, Barbara Parker.  He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy Conner; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tiffany and Shannon Lafferty and Vicki and Dennis Berry; sister, Sharon Davis; and two grandchildren, Kyle and Jessica.

A Graveside Service will be held at Serenity Ridge Natural Burial Cemetery, 2406 Ridge Road, Windsor Mill, Maryland 21244 on Friday, December 27 beginning at 12:45 PM.  In lieu of flowers, please remember Sherrill with memorial contributions to American Legion Towson Post #22, the American Heart Association , or consider planting trees in his memory.
