After a long battle with Liver Cancer, Steven Lee Frederick succumbed to the disease on Monday, September 11, 2023 while at the Loch Raven Veterans Hospice Center in Baltimore, Maryland. He was 72 years old.

Steve was born in Baltimore City, Maryland on October 14, 1950 the youngest of 4 boys to Doris (nee Lindner) and Earle Frederick. He grew up in Baltimore and as a teenager also lived in Hancock, Maryland with his Aunt and Uncle.

At age 19, Steve joined the U.S. Army where he became a combat engineer. During his military service he served one year in Vietnam and received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Metal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Expert Rifle Metal. After leaving the service Steve had a variety of jobs, but with the skills he learned during his time in the military, he became a carpenter and pursued that occupation for over 40 years. Steve enjoyed kayaking and motorcycling. When Steve wasn't working, his motorcycle took him on one adventure after another. Steve is survived by his son, Matthew; daughter, Jennifer; and his brothers, Ray, Dennis and Gary.

Services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Steve requested all memorial donations be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-9959.
