Thomas James Malecki was born on September 1, 1971, in Baltimore, Maryland to Mr. Carroll John Malecki and Mrs. Gloria Jean Baublitz-Malecki.  He is the youngest of three siblings.  Due to Thomas's complex health issues, and requiring total care, in 1980 Thomas was admitted into Highland Health and Ridge School where he resided for nine years.  In 1989 Highland Health closed and Thomas moved to Rosewood.  He remained a resident at Rosewood until moving to SSD, Inc.  In 1997 Thomas later moved to Life, Inc.  Thomas resided at Life, Inc. until 2010.  In 2010 Thomas moved to Gallagher Services where he resided until he transitioned to his final home.

Thomas resided with six other roommates.  He had a special bond with one of his roommates.  They shared great times together listening to music and talking a language that only the two of them understood.  Thomas's communication was special and unique, only understood to those who invested an interest in learning a foreign language.  During his happy moments he roared.  The sound started low ending in a high loud pitch, holding his head back, projecting the lion's call for his roommate's attention.  This call from Thomas will really be missed.

On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, Thomas transitioned to his permanent home.  He was admitted to Gilchrist Hospice Center from GBMC after his health declined and he needed rest and peace.

Thomas leaves in mourning his special friend, Kurt Wilmer and five roommates.  He also was very fond of one of the staff, George, who spent time daily making sure that Thomas's daily care was addressed to Thomas's satisfactory.  All three, Thomas, Kurt and George shared a special bond.  Thomas will and has been missed by all that knew him.  It is hard to say goodbye to Thomas.  You were a HERO.
