Obituary

Vernon M. ("Pete") Peterson, Jr.  passed on Monday, March 10, 2025 after a brief illness.

He was predeceased by his father, Vernon M. Peterson, Sr., his mother, Ella May (née Barron), his brother, Irvin Eugene and sister, Peggy Marie. He is survived by his sisters Mary Ellen Hodge, Ruth Ann Schreiber, and Ella Peterson. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.

Vernon was proud of his 40 years of service as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. He was active in the Union, always attending the annual conventions. His love of sports began as a boy when he played baseball through high school. He was a southpaw who once pitched against Reggie Jackson. Later, he was an avid bowler in local leagues. He was a lifelong sports fan who supported the Orioles, Baltimore Colts, and the Ravens.

The family will receive friends at Peaceful Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Center, P.A., 2325 York Road, Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Monday, March 17, 2025 from 2PM to 4PM and 6PM to 8PM. A Funeral Service will be held in the Peaceful Alternatives Chapel on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 beginning at 11AM. Interment to follow in the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Phoenix, Maryland. Please remember Pete by signing his guestbook.
