William E. Belt of Cockeysville, Maryland passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025, after a battle with encephalitis. He was predeceased by his mother, Hazel, and his father, Clarence, as well as his three stepchildren, Bill, John, and Bob. William grew up in the area and lived in Hunt Valley well before the original mall was ever built. He lived a storied life, and worked as a bartender at the Pioneer House, a laborer at the historic Campbell Quarry in Texas, Maryland, as an autobody person at several businesses, as an insurance adjuster, and body shop manager. He was known for being a regular attendee of bluegrass festivals, car shows, and auto races. He once spent the weekend in a southern jail, for trying to sneak bourbon through a dry county on his way to a NASCAR race in Florida. He really liked committing anonymous acts of charity. He was the best dad and pop-pop ever. He is survived by his wife Beverly. He is additionally survived by his son Michael, daughter-in-law Heather, and grandchildren Colum, Declan, Bronwen, Seamus, Ariana, and Parisa.
The family will receive friends at Peaceful Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Center, P.A., 2325 York Road, Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Wednesday, August 6 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM with the Funeral Service beginning at 12:00 PM. Interment to follow at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
