Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of William E Quillen, 68, then son of the late Luther Estell Quillen, Jr. and Myrtle Jean Burkett Quillen Ruff, Brother of Joseph Dale Quillen, Donna Ruff Stein, and Randy Ruff.  Beloved father, who departed this world on December 13, 2023.

William, or Bill, or Billy, as he was known to friends and family, was born on April 23, 1955. He brought joy and warmth to those around him throughout his life.

He was a veteran of the US Air Force, a graduate of Hopkins with a Masters in Electrical Engineering. He started his first job in chosen field at Bendix, and started his family, fathering 4 sons. He honed and succeeded in his career, working for multiple defense contractors like Fairchild Republic, Lockheed Martin, Booz Allen Hamilton, and others.

William was a devout Christian, who in his spare time frequently put his energies into volunteer work. He enjoyed bible study, taught ESL classes, and worked as a substitute Math teacher. He enjoyed playing guitar, wood working, playing chess & Risk, going for hikes, swimming, playing racket ball or badminton, frisbee golf, slinging rocks, skipping stones, and was so keen to teach and enjoy these things with his sons. All of this could readily and happily be capped off with a trip to Sonic, or some fast food place for some junk food! He had a sweet tooth that was legendary among those who knew him.

He is survived by his four sons:
Jason E. Quillen and his wife Christy and their children Gianna and Eva.  Brandon J. Quillen and his children Demetrius A. Quillen, Diamondique Quillen, Phoebe Quillen, Zahari Quillen, Callum Quillen.
Jordon A. Quillen and his wife Kristi and children Milo J. Quillen and Eden Quillen.
And lastly his youngest son Dalton J. Quillen and his partner, Caitlin Stone.
