Obituary

Yolanda M. Ordine, 96, died June 8, 2025 of natural causes at the Lighthouse Senior Living Center in Essex, Maryland.

The former Yolanda Pannullo lived most of her life in Philadelphia, first in the Germantown section of the city with a large loving family in which she was the youngest of nine siblings, and later, in South Philadelphia with her husband Albert and son William.

Mrs. Ordine was especially known for her caring and nurturing nature and cheerful disposition.  Always looking to be helpful to others, her most gratifying work experience was as a nurse's aide in an adult day care center at Pennsylvania Hospital in Center City Philadelphia where she provided attentive and soothing respite for older adults.  Mrs. Ordine took on this important work at an age when many people choose to retire and, in fact, she was formally recognized for her outstanding day care center efforts at an awards ceremony.

Prior to her work as a nurse's aide, Mrs. Ordine worked in the Philadelphia garment industry when that business was a mainstay of urban America, and she was a proud member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.

Mrs. Ordine, who attended Germantown High School, was an avid reader and believed strongly in the value of education encouraging and supporting her son, William; granddaughter, Natalie, and her great-granddaughter, Emily in their school pursuits.

She was known to faithfully recognize relatives' milestones, such as baptisms, birthdays and graduations, with her attendance at those events, greeting cards and gifts.

Mrs. Ordine greatly loved having fun with loved ones and enjoyed a number of vacation trips to places such as Florida and Arizona, and on ocean cruises, where she was a spirited participant in physical activities, including snorkeling, all of which gave her long-lasting memories. Another of her favorites were visits to casinos where she was a savvy table game player.

In the last decade of her life, Mrs. Ordine moved from Philadelphia to Baltimore County, where, as usual, she was a popular presence among those who knew her.

Mrs. Ordine was preceded in death by her husband Albert Ordine, a World War II veteran; her father Antonio Pannullo and mother Maria Buscio Pannullo, and her eight brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Ordine is survived by son William Ordine, of Sparks, MD, daughter-in-law Debra Ordine, granddaughter Natalie Swackhamer (Stuart Swackhamer), great-granddaughter Emily Swackhamer, nieces Frannie Roskow and Angela Gotwalt, and many other nieces and nephews and friends who knew and loved her.
