Jerome "Jerre" Taylor, 98 years old, of Cockeysville, Maryland passed away peacefully at home on February 3, 2017. He is survived by his daughters, Judith Dunbar and Jenifer Garrison, son-in-law John Dunbar, grandchildren Alexander Dunbar, Taylor Garrison and Burke Garrison, step-grandaughter Skye Bomba, great-granddaughters Julianna and Alexandra Bomba, sister Marguerite Ellis and brother Richard Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Marguerite (nee Frater) Taylor, his wife Irene (nee Malinowski) Taylor, son-in-law William Garrison, and brothers, Lawrence and Norman Taylor.
Jerre was a kind, generous and loving person; a true gentleman in every sense of the word. He was married to the love of his life, Renee, for almost 61 years until her death in 2002. A fine criminal attorney by profession, he served in both the Baltimore City and Baltimore County States Attorney's offices. After retirement he continued working as an advocate for abused women and children, and the mentally ill until the age of 87. Jerre was passionate about life, theater and particularly golf. He started playing golf and caddying at Clifton Park when he was nine years old, financing his college and law school education at the University of Baltimore through his earnings. An incredible golfer, he had numerous 'holes in one' and shot his age four times when he was 77 years old. Two of his favorite golfing partners were his daughter, Judith, and his grandson, Alex, whom he taught to play at age five. He appeared in numerous amateur theater productions in Baltimore with his daughter Jenifer, and after retirement attended Towson University to pursue a degree in theater. He also enjoyed taking his grandchildren Taylor and Burke to both amateur and professional theater performances.
Jerre's life exemplified honesty, humility, dignity, and a wonderful attitude and sense of humor. His attributes left an indelible impression on his family and friends. He was deeply loved and will be forever missed.
